Company Summary:

Verizon Communications Inc. is an American multinational telecommunications corporation and is a corporate component of the Dow Jones Industrial Average. Verizon is headquartered at 1095 Avenue of the Americas in Midtown Manhattan, New York City, but they are incorporated in Delaware. April 2019 made Verizon’s subsidiary, Verizon Wireless, the second largest wireless communications service provider in the US, having over 150 million mobile subscribers.

In 1984, Bell Atlantic Corporation was established as one of the original Regional Bell Operating Companies when the Bell System broke up. Bell Atlantic originally operated in the states of New Jersey, Maryland, Virginia, Pennsylvania, West Virginia, Washington, D.C. and Delaware. Bell Atlantic changed their name to Verizon Communications in June 2000 when the Federal Communications Commission approved the merger with GTE, almost two years after the proposal in 1998. Soon after, Verizon became the largest local telephone company in the US, operating 63 million telephone lines in 40 states.

Verizon’s benefits are designed to support their people in their career and in every area of their lives. The benefits start from comprehensive medical plans as well as wellness programs to tuition assistance and paid leave for parents. This is Verizon’s way of investing on their people.
