Becton, Dickinson and Company, or more commonly known as BD, is an American multinational medical technology company that manufactures and sells medical device, reagents, and instrument systems. BD also offers consultancy and analytics services in specific geographies. Most of BD’s customers are science researchers, health care institutions, pharmaceutical industry, clinical labs, and the general public.  BD was among the primary companies who sold U.S.-made glass syringes. Maxwell W. Becton and Fairleigh S. Dickinson were the two American businessmen who founded BD in 1897 after meeting up on a sales trip.  The company made its first sale that same year of a Luer-all-glass syringe for $2.50.  BD made its first patent for a medical product the following year.  It was in 1899 when the company publicized their first logo which was meant to represent guaranteed superior quality of BD products. BD is now a global name in medical technology with the purpose of advancing the world of health by making improvements in medical discovery, diagnostics, and delivery of care.
