Company Summary:

Newell Brands is an American worldwide manufacturer, marketer, and distributor of consumer and commercial products.  The company has a portfolio of brands under their name, which includes Rubbermaid storage and trash containers, Coleman outdoor products, writing instruments, glue, and First Alert alarm systems, to name a few.  Tax incentives in Atlanta made them move their global headquarters to New Jersey in 2016.  However, they decided to move back to Atlanta in 2019 and has maintained their headquarters since.

The Newell Manufacturing Company was established by Edgar Newell in Ogdensburg, New York in 1903 as a manufacturer of curtain rods.  He later invested in machines that produced better curtain rods at a faster pace.  His first customer for Newell’s bronze-plated curtain rods was F. W. Woolworth retail chain in 1916, which marked the start of Newell’s mass merchandising strategy.  The Newell Company later went public in 1972 and acquired different brands as they moved forward.
