Company Summary:

Leidos was formerly known as Science Applications International Corporation (SAIC). It is an American defense, information technology, aviation, and biomedical research company based in Reston, Virginia. Leidos focuses on providing scientific, engineering, systems integration, as well as technical services for its clients. They work closely with different defense departments of the United States and other US government civil agencies and commercial markets.

Leidos started as SAIC and was founded by Robert “Bob” Beyster in 1969. He was a former scientist and later became the chairman of the Accelerator Physics Department of General Atomics in 1957. He raised the money to establish SAIC by selling stocks he received from General Atomics, together with funds raised from early employees who bought stock in the young enterprise. The primary focus of the company was the projects for the US government related to nuclear power and weapons effects study programs.

In August of 2012, SAIC announced its plans to spin off the company. It was in 2013 when it was announced that the smaller spin-off company would retain its name, while the larger one would be named to Leidos and move their headquarters to Reston.

Leidos understands that pay and benefits are essential to any career. This is why their compensation package is reflected on the importance of the work they do for their clients.
