Company Summary:

Liberty Mutual Group is an American diversified global insurer and the third-largest property and casualty insurer in the US. Liberty’s headquarters may be found in Boston, Massachusetts. As of December 31, 2020, Liberty Mutual Insurance had $145.377 billion in consolidated assets. Liberty Mutual provides a vast array of insurance products and services that include personal automobile, workers’ compensation, homeowners, general liability, commercial automobile, fire, and many others.

Liberty Mutual’s history may be traced back to 1912 as the Massachusetts Employees Insurance Association (MEIA) that followed a passage of a 1911 Massachusetts law calling for employers to protect their employees with workers’ compensation insurance. The company started as a mutual company with the first branch opening in 1914. Later that year, the company composed its first automobile insurance policy. It was in 1917 when the name was changed to the Liberty Mutual Insurance Company and started offering full-coverage auto policies.
