Company Summary:

Amazon.com, Inc. is an American multinational technology company with headquarters found in Seattle, Washington. Amazon focuses on e-commerce, cloud computing, digital streaming, and artificial intelligence. They are one of the Big Five companies in the US in the IT industry together with Facebook, Google, Apple, and Microsoft. Due to its reputation, Amazon has been referred to as “one of the most influential economic and cultural forces in the world”, as well as the world’s most valuable brand. Amazon also runs a network of fulfillment centers, which it uses to fill and ship orders, and give customers the option to have their orders shipped and picked up from one of those centers instead of having to wait for shipping.

Did you know?

Amazon was founded by Jeff Bezos from a garage in Bellevue, Washington on July 5, 1994. The company began as an online marketplace for books and soon expanded to selling electronics, software, video games, toys, food, and jewelry. They acquired Whole Foods Market in 2017 for US$ 13.4 billion, which made the retailer increase their footprint. Today, Amazon operates as a market leader in many e-commerce niches, including books, groceries, cloud computing, and video games. But the company’s evolution hasn’t abated. While Amazon focuses on e-commerce, it is evolving into other verticals such as the digital assistant, the shopping app, the voice-powered assistant, and the Amazon Alexa voice platform.

Final Company Statement:

The advantages of working at Amazon don’t stop at collaborating with excellent people on exciting and innovative projects. They also provide a full range of benefits that help in supporting them and their eligible family members, which include domestic partners and their children. Amazon is a large, well-established company with a clear mission and vision, who is committed to providing the best possible experience for their customers. They are also a great place to work, with fair pay, great benefits, and opportunities for advancement. Amazon has an incredible impact on people’s lives, in terms of how their business model helps make the world a better and more just place, and continually strives to improve their practices and open up the company for everyone to see.
