Company Summary:

Amazon.com, Inc. is an American multinational technology company with headquarters found in Seattle, Washington. Amazon focuses on e-commerce, cloud computing, digital streaming, and artificial intelligence. They are one of the Big Five companies in the US in the IT industry together with Facebook, Google, Apple, and Microsoft. Due to its reputation, Amazon has been referred to as “one of the most influential economic and cultural forces in the world”, as well as the world’s most valuable brand.

Amazon was founded by Jeff Bezos from a garage in Bellevue, Washington on July 5, 1994. The company began as an online marketplace for books and soon expanded to selling electronics, software, video games, toys, food, and jewelry. Amazon acquired Whole Foods Market in 2017 for US$ 13.4 billion, which made the retailer increase their footprint.
