Cox Enterprises, Inc. is a privately held global conglomerate company based in Atlanta, Georgia. Cox Enterprises is the parent company of the following businesses: Cox Communications, Cox Media Group, Cox Automotive, and Cox First Media. The company was founded in 1898 by James M. Cox, who purchased the Dayton Evening News. He expanded his operations to six newspapers in Ohio by 1920 and in 1933 purchased the Atlanta Georgian and Journal to form Cox Newspapers, Inc.
