Oak Ridge National Laboratory or ORNL is a United States technology and science multiprogram national laboratory. The company was founded 79 years ago in 1943, it is located in the Roane County section of Oak Ridge, Tennessee. ORNL is sponsored by the U.S. Depeartment of Energy and is managed, administered, and operated by UT – Battelle as a federally funded development and research center. They are the leading neutron and nuclear research facility with 5,700 employees. The company conducts many development activities that span many of scientific disciplines. ORNL reservation is a total of 150 square kilometers or 58 sq mi and the lab takes up 18 square kilometers or 7 sq mi.
