Texas Christian University (TCU) is a private research university that is in Fort Worth, Texas. The campus is located on 272 acres of land and divided into three areas, which are an academic area, Worth Hills, and a residential area. It consist of eight constituent colleges and schools which has a classical liberal arts curriculum. TSU is not governed but is affiliated by the Disciples of Christ. Their school mascot is a Superfrog which is based on the horned grog, a Texas state reptile. Approximately 11,938 students attend TSU with over 10,000 being undergraduates. Texan brothers Randolph and Addison Clark with support of their father Joseph A. Clark were the first to have founded Texas Christian University. The family were scholar preacher and teachers that associated with the Restoration Movement. In 1873 the Clark brothers moved to the South to Throp Spring and founded Add-Ran Male & Female College. TSU recognizes the year of 1873 as the universities founding year and preserves its original college through the AddRan College of Liberal Arts. In 1889 the school was renamed Add-Ran Christian University and relocated. After purchasing the campus of the defunct Waco Female College it changed its name to Texas Christian University.
